Justin Matkin is a member of the firm's commercial litigation group with an emphasis on eminent domain litigation and real estate related matters. He has represented clients in more than 200 eminent domain matters including litigation seeking to condemn property for high voltage electrical transmission lines, highway and road expansions, utilities, railroad and light rail, dam and water treatment facilities, sewer, oil, gas, and water pipelines, airport expansions, avigation easements, billboards, and telecommunication facilities among others.  While many of his clients are landowners who are subject to having their property rights condemned, Mr. Matkin also represents condemning authorities in eminent domain proceedings.  He is currently acting as lead counsel for the acquisition of private right of way needed for a 400 mile pipeline project.

In 2010, Mr. Matkin served on Eminent Domain Subcommittee to rewrite the Model Utah Jury Instructions.  He has been recognized for his expertise in the area of eminent domain law by Mountain States Super Lawyers (2009-2011), and Utah Business magazine's Utah Legal Elite (2005-2012).

Mr. Matkin also represents clients in general commercial litigation and contract disputes and in many real estate related matters, including easement and access issues, real estate purchase contracts, development agreements, zoning and land use, and water rights.
