David Reymann assists clients in a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters. He has experience in a number of areas of the law, with particular expertise in First Amendment and media litigation, including open records laws, access to court proceedings, defamation, reporters’ privilege issues, and anti-SLAPP litigation.  Mr. Reymann is an adjunct professor at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law and a periodic lecturer on constitutional law.  He helps staff the Utah Freedom of Information Hotline at Parr Brown, which provides pro bono legal assistance to Utah journalists.  He also performs pro bono work for the Media Law Resource Center, which focuses on legal issues facing the media in litigation.  Mr. Reymann has represented numerous media organizations in Utah and several national organizations, including CNN and the Associated Press.

Mr. Reymann also has extensive experience in commercial litigation involving multi-level marketing, network marketing, and direct-sales companies. He has assisted both distributors and companies in various disputes, including trade secret and cross-recruiting cases, regulatory compliance, contract and policy matters, and product contamination issues.

Mr. Reymann also has assisted both companies and individuals with other litigation matters, including corporate governance and malfeasance, contract negotiations and disputes, intellectual property, trade secrets, copyright, trademark, securities, internet law, antitrust compliance and defense, environmental litigation and administrative proceedings, and appellate law.  He has argued cases at all levels of Utah’s state and federal courts, including the Utah Court of Appeals and Utah Supreme Court.  Mr. Reymann is a registered lobbyist in the State of Utah and has acted as special counsel to the State in constitutional challenges to enacted legislation.

Mr. Reymann dedicates a significant portion of his practice to pro bono legal work.  Over the years, he has represented plaintiffs in civil rights cases and has acted as a cooperating attorney with the ACLU of Utah on constitutional and First Amendment issues.  He also has served as co-counsel with the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center in seeking DNA testing in cases of alleged wrongful convictions, has assisted death-row inmates in post-conviction relief proceedings, and has represented immigrants from the Middle East whose citizenship applications were unlawfully delayed following the events of 9/11.

In 2011, Mr. Reymann was elected by his peers to the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, an organization limited to one-third of one-percent of the lawyers in America, and dedicated to the advancement of social progress in the law.  Mr. Reymann is a past President of the Salt Lake County Bar Association, a member of the Dartmouth Lawyers Association, and is active in the Sutherland II Inn of Court. Mr. Reymann been awarded an AV rating – the highest awarded by Martindale-Hubbell.  In 2010, Mr. Reymann was honored as one of Utah’s "Forty Under 40" by Utah Business Magazine.  He has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America for 2007-2012 and the 2008-2012 editions of Mountain States Super Lawyers.
